Dr. Lew Abrams, also known as Blue Mountain, is a licensed clinical psychologist, life coach, trans-denominational minister, sculptor, group facilitator, writer, organic farmer, and designer of Sacred Earth Temple.
Dr. Abrams earned a BA in psychology from the University of California at Berkeley, and MA and Ph.D. degrees from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He completed a one-year internship in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington School of Medicine in 1990.
In governmental agencies such as the Indian Health Service and Maui Memorial Medical Center, and in a holistically oriented private practice, Dr. Abrams has conducted individual, couples, group, and family psychotherapy with people from all walks of life for more than 20 years.
Blue Mountain was ordained as a minister in the Temple of Peace, in Haiku HI in 2000, and continues to be regularly involved in Temple of Peace ministries and Sunday Service. In 2012, together with his wife, Mirayah Delamar, Dr. Abrams formed Sacred Earth Assembly, a 501(c) 3 religious nonprofit, to expand their Earth-centered spiritual ministry.
Sacred Earth Assembly’s teachings center on honoring the Earth as a sacred Divine Mother and living according to the principles of “ahimsa” or nonviolence. Worship includes meditation, holiday celebrations with shared healthy, locally grown vegetarian food, art, music, dance, rites of passage, and community prayer ceremonies, such as Rebirth 2012. Sacred Earth Assembly is also a growing on-line virtual community where people with similar interests and passions can network and develop applied demonstration and social action projects. To participate, ask to become a friend of SacredEarth Assembly on Facebook.
Blue Mountain has found that with a clear intention to create sacred space, and an inviting energy of warmth and nonjudgemental appreciation, people from diverse backgrounds can come together to exchange ideas with mutual respect and reverence for our planet and for the gift of Life.
Dr. Abrams is currently working on several books; one about teaching values to children and adolescents, another about spiritual approaches to relationship challenges, and a third, titled Diving for Pearls, about accessing creative inspiration from within. He lives and works at Ahimsa Sanctuary Farm, an organically managed permaculture farm using wind and solar power to grow non-GMO food, herbs, and flowers in Haiku, Maui.
